Hathway Investment Stock Loses Appeal After Big Investors Exit

Published: Jan 25, 2024
Hathway Investment Company (HATHY), a private equity firm in Nepal, has seen its stock price plummet in recent days. The company, which invests in a variety of areas including capital markets, tourism, infrastructure, and financial services, had a secondary market high of Rs 1,113 per share but has since slumped to Rs 935.

The reason for the price drop is that the big investors, who had bought the stock at a low price, have sold their shares and exited the market, making huge profits. According to one investor, the big players have abandoned the stock after driving up the price and creating a hype.

Hathway Investment had issued 2,925,000 units of shares to the general public at a face value of Rs 50 per share. The company has a total of 23.4 million units of shares, including promoter shares, listed in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE).

The company had also announced a 10 percent stock dividend to its shareholders, which lured many investors to buy the stock at a high price. However, the stock price has been falling continuously due to low demand and oversupply in the market.
